Accessible by Car
By car: from San José along the famous Panamericana towards north to Libera. From there are two possibilities to get to us. Either you take the route over the Tempisque Bridge (Puente de la Amistad) or the route towards Liberia.
TEMPISQUE BRIDGE: (approx. 4 hours drive). Pass the village Limonal and the big Gasstation. Then turn left. Follow the street and pass the upcoming bridge. After passing the bridge drive approx. 20 minutes till the end of the street. Then turn right towards Nicoya. Follow the sings in direction Santa Cruz. Pass Santa Cruz. After the traffic light you will pass a metal bridge. Turn left after the bridge towards Playa Junquillal. Follow the street for another 18 kilometers until you get to another metal bridge. Pass the bridge and drive 200 meters and then turn left in direction Playa Junquillal. Drive another 200 meters and turn right towards the village Paraiso. Pass the football pitch and turn left. Drive another 4 kilometers and reach Playa Junquillal. The hotel hibiscus is on the left side on the mainstreet towards the beach
LIBERIA ROUTE: (approx. 5 hours drive). Pass the village Limonal and follow the street towards Liberia. Turn left at the traffic light in Liberia in direction Santa Cruz. Turn right directly in front of the metal bridge and before reaching Santa Cruz. Follow the street for another 18 kilometers until you get to another metal bridge. Pass the bridge and drive 200 meters and then turn left in direction Playa Junquillal. Drive another 200 meters and turn right towards the village Paraiso. Pass the football pitch and turn left. Drive another 4 kilometers and reach Playa Junquillal. The hotel hibiscus is on the left side on the mainstreet towards the beach.
Accessible by Bus
By Bus : Two local bus companies drive from San José to Santa Cruz on a daily basis. Such as TRALAPA (2221 72 02) and ALFARO (2222 27 50 or 2223 82 29). They both leave San José (almost) hourly and charge approx. $ 12.00 per Person. By bus it takes approx. 5 hours from San José to Santa Cruz.
One TRALAPA Bus (leaving San José at 2 pm) will take you by changing buses in Santa Cruz directly to Playa Junquillal. Otherwise you will have to check buses in Santa Cruz driving to Playa Junquillal. The last bus leaves Santa Cruz at 5 :30 pm. Or you may catch a taxi from Santa Cruz to Playa Junquillal. This takes about 45 minutes and costs approx. $ 30.00.
